I was just laid off at
Toledo Scale. There were not many companies hiring anymore. So, I wanted to find a dependable home based job or business
that paid at least $40,000 per year.
I looked at some home
based advertising businesses such as Money Mailer, Coffee News, and
TidBits News. But, they wanted $10,000 to over $25,000 for me to just get
started. That's a lot of money for me to pay.
But then I discovered
the

I am Robert,
a student at USC in California
It seems I always
need money. Fortunately, I read in my college newspaper becoming a Dealer for a local advertising business.
I am a business
major, so I jumped on it. This is a perfect business for me. So I quickly got
my buddies to help me and we all made some serious money.
Here’s how we
started my local publication. First, we divided the work up. Barbara
took the advertising job since she is a journalism major.
Jordan took
the job of selling websites to the local businesses because he knows computers. I took both the
advertising and the website design sales because I know everything.

 The
Market Survey
Hi,
this is Emma.
When I started my
training, I had no experience in visiting local businesses and I had
less experience about doing advertising and publishing.
But, I wanted to
support myself and this seemed a good way to do it.
First, I did the required Market Survey. I got copies of all the local
publications and became familiar with their advertisements.
Than, I made a list and looked at most of the local businesses in my
territory (my entire local town).
Finally, I made my route for visiting local businesses during my first
week. This Market Survey took me 3 days.
I learned that the Market Survey was the most important part for me to
start this advertising business. It was easy.
